Though not as heavy as the orginal SOC it is bigger in scale, about 7-8 inches i'd say, has alot more useful improved articulation and removable armor. The design is not "anime" per se.. one can note the the legs are a little more "normal" in length.
At first glance you'd think the plastic is of poor quality, It does have that extra "give" to pop on and off the joints (a neccesity to add the armor)But you can be sure all joints are tight and can hold lots of action poses.
I hope they release the 13th angel "bardiel" in this format and have him have those longer arms.

I just recieved my XS-01 as well. Overall I like it better than the first SOC even tho the Diecast content is lower. Articulation has definetly improved, size and features have been improved as well. Accesroy wise is not too different than GX-14 but with the improved articulation, it can pose better with the weapons. The only thing I really dont like about it is the fact that the midsection is a bit too thick. I guess it cant be helped since it has a removable armor gimmick but I think Bandai could have still improved it. It seems Bandai will be doing Mecha from other series as well for the SPEC sries. The next one in the Line is a Personal favorite of mine SPT LAYZNER!! Can't wait to get that one!

Well the new movies will be out soon enough. Eva-mania all over again.
