Re: Nobody seeing any movies lately?
looks like I gotta start finding the Karate Kid dvd!!
hmm...fav movie songs....
I don't really know... but one of my fav soundtrack has got to be Baz Luherman's Romeo & Juliet, all the songs just fits into the movie flawlessly.

Re: Nobody seeing any movies lately?
Don't buy the Karate Kid CD, I think it's not worth it! But the song was also in the CD "The King of Kong" which is a documentary about a Donkey Kong tournament in the USA! That CD has better songs, including Eye of the Tiger, Ride of the Valkyries, etc.
I can imagine you rocking out with your electric guitar right now, bro!

Re: Nobody seeing any movies lately?
I just watched District 9 last night. It was a good time!
Really good film, I enjoyed it a lot! The less you know about the film going in, the better. 80% of the film was done documentary style, the FX were great and there was an actual plot (plus the thinking and mulling over the issues after the movie is over).
I didn't cringe much during the ultraviolent portions; I must be very desensitized by videogames and comic books; but there were a lot of cringeworthy scenes!
I'm sure Hot Toys or NECA will try and tackle some of the characters and make them into figures.

Re: Nobody seeing any movies lately?
Hey kaido, I'm going to see District 9 today, I have tried to stay away from trailers, interviews, or anything related to the movie. I just hate watching those trailers where they tell you the whole movie!!!
Well it is either District 9 or Ponyo. I love Miyasaki movies, but the cinema where Ponyo is on, is a little far away from where I live, so I think District 9 it is.

Re: Nobody seeing any movies lately?
Enjoy it, rarra!
District 9 literally came out of nowhere. I saw a few 'Humans only' bus signs and posters in the city, but that was it. I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was.
I hope to watch Ponyo next week with my wife and son... and don't forget Inglourious Basterds is starting next week too!

Re: Nobody seeing any movies lately?
I just returned from watching Ponyo... in a movie theatre full of kids...
Great movie, not Miyazaki's best, I still preferred Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke or Nausicaa. This movie is more like My neighbor Totoro, more kid oriented; but a great movie anyhow. I loved the colors and the animation, I like that everything is hand drawn, no computer animation. His drawing style has not changed...
Great movie... highly recommended.
Also saw two days ago District 9. WOW, I thought it was a documentary. Looked so real. Also every time I was watching the movie I kept thinking about apartheid, and how if this really happened in this day and age, how frightening it would be that this would actually happen. Great movie.
Last week I saw 500 days of summer. I like my romantic comedies although sometimes formulaic, they're a good time at the movies with the wife. Well 500 is great. It is the story of a relationship between a young couple. The ups and downs.... especially the downs... It has a great soundtrack, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel are great in this movie, they are perfectly casted. I really LOVED this movie, highly recommended.
I am only missing Julie and Julia which has great reviews; Nora Ephron know her romantics comedies, I think Sleepless in Seattle is one of the greatest romantic comedies of all time (with When Harry Met Sally), so I think this won't dissapoint.

Joseph Gordon Levitt is in a lot of stuff these days, my wife wants to watch 500, but I'm hoping for Inglourious Basterds instead!

Re: Nobody seeing any movies lately?
I don't know if romantic comedies are your cup of tea... but the movie was very good. I'd-buy-it-in-bluray-when-it-comes-out good.
