Re: Nobody Seeing Any DVD's Lately
Not really really violent, it is like a normal western, well a spaghetti western. So you get bullet wounds, but nothing too extreme... There is blood, but it is not as bad as maybe Miike's other movies.
The beginning of the movie was a little slow, but other than that it was good. I'm not into westerns, but the look of the movie, plus the idea of a Japanese western seemed very weird and somehow cool...
I bought it because it had a good trailer, plus the bluray was $14 in bestbuy!!! good deal.
Rent it before buying it.

Re: Nobody Seeing Any DVD's Lately
I just returned from BestBuy with the Simpsons season 12. I don't know how many mediworlders like the Simpsons, I just love them (+Family Guy, American Dad, King of the Hill just in Fox). I have all the seasons plus the movie, if there is some other thing that I collect other than toys is DVDs and lately blurays. I must have over 300.
So I have a whole season to enjoy, while gorging buffalo wings and Mega fries (french fries + cheddar cheese + mozzarella + bacon... yummm)...
I know I know.... I am dying of a heart attack any day now... (knock on wood)

Re: Nobody Seeing Any DVD's Lately
lolz
I have a ton of DVDs too! No blurays, but I lost count how many DVDs and box sets.
I like Simpsons, Family Guy too. Going to get the latest Flight of the Conchords, my fave comedy at the moment. I love those two singing losers!

Re: Nobody Seeing Any DVD's Lately
I love The Simpsons too!!! I don't have all the seasons but am slowly working my way to getting them all. My other favorite would be South Park.
haha Yeah.....I think besides toys, my DVD collection is pretty scary as well.

Re: Nobody Seeing Any DVD's Lately
South Park is another series that I need to buy. The thing with me is that I like buying them in order, and the early season episodes I've watch them a lot...
The thing is here you get sometimes deals on the Sunday newspaper and you can get them really cheap. For example South Park was $16 each season.

Re: Nobody Seeing Any DVD's Lately
$16 a season? That's awesome! Rarra, are you in Asia?
I have seasons 1-9 for South Park, but I didn't finish 6 and up yet. Still, when I see a deal like that, I don't mind 'hoarding' first to watch it later.

Re: Nobody Seeing Any DVD's Lately
No sorry, I'm in Pennsylvania (US), we get those kind of deals very often. Here you wait for the sunday paper where you see what are the offers for the coming week. Depending on that I do my shopping (that's how I got to ~300 DVDs), the idea is to buy 1 dvd a week.
I'm checking my Sunday paper, House Season 4 - 1, Simpsons (11 - 1) 19.99 + tax each; Dexter (2 - 1) each 16.99.
On another store (Target) South Park season 1 & 2 (both) 18.99

Re: Nobody Seeing Any DVD's Lately
i recently watched "big man japan", one that wookster posted about a while ago. completely whacky movie, but definitely glad i bought it. surreal, sometimes depressing, and occassionally very funny. it's done mockumentary style. someone please watch it so we can discuss the ending
also bought gojoe - it's a movie that's always received mediocre reviews but i actually really liked it. very different, and i like the way the legend has been re-imagined. some really beautiful scenes, and the action is cool. apparently the highest body count for any japanese film too, but don't get me wrong - it's not a john woo-esque balls out action flick.
i also bought twilight samurai, after wanting to see it again for ages. i love that movie. and also shinobi, electric dragon 80000V (another recommendation by wookster), the good, the bad, the weird, red cliff (the asian long version). i also have the batman legacy box set and matrix trilogy on blu-ray that i'm dying to see. matrix especially should look awesome in HD.
