Re: Last Time You Were Really Excited About A TV Show.....
Might be worth keeping an eye out for the January sales BCM. The first four seasons have been on sale at HMV a couple of times at decent prices so you might be able to get them for cheaper than you'd think. I think you might enjoy them.
The thing about 24 is that each season's like a movie sequel, it helps if you've seen the previous one, but it's not essential for you to enjoy it. Season four was kind of a mini reboot for the show as well since alot of the original cast left or came back in a greatly reduced role. Half the season just featured Jack and Chloe so it should make more sense if you're a newcomer.

Does your videostore have them? Videostores here carry the series so not necessary to buy them all. You may not ever watch them more than once (I mean, that's very time consuming to begin with!).
The early seasons of 24 are pretty cheap now as well.

Re: Last Time You Were Really Excited About A TV Show.....
Most video stores around where I live have closed down, both the local Blockbuster and Choices (a UK franchise) have both shut down in the last few months. Have other people found this where they live as well? I think it's because more people are doing the 15.99 a month online rental through places like Amazon and Love Film etc. and they can't compete.

Re: Last Time You Were Really Excited About A TV Show.....
i know all the smaller, independent places have shut down. and some of the smaller blockbusters too. luckily (or maybe not so) i live in a studenty area, so the blockbuster around here survives. kinda nice coz a series of 24 is only £5 to rent. it's just hard to get it watched in a week sometimes. everyday becomes a marathon session!

It's the same in my area, the independents have all gone and only Blockbuster remains so I'll have a look for the 24 box sets next time I go in

Go ahead, we're all addicted, why shouldn't you be?
Based on the bits I've seen it looks like I'll get into it fairly easily which is not always the case with US shows.
Has the quality stayed consistent has it's gone on or has it already peaked?

Re: Last Time You Were Really Excited About A TV Show.....
there have been ups and downs. i actually find that even within a series there can be serious lulls. but that might be because, like yourself i missed them when they were first on tv so had to rent them out and watch them. watching 24 episodes in a week can be hard going. if its once a week you don't notice the lulls i think.
anyway, highlights for me were seasons 2 and 5 - absolutely phenomenal. 3 was good. 6 was pretty good. i think the only one that was sort of disappointing for me was season 4. but compared to a lot of stuff on tv even that wasn't all that bad. altogether a great series. 7 should be good.
has anyone caught heroes season 3 on bbc yet? is it better than the dire season 2? i think that and prison break season 4 will have to be catch-up on dvd sessions for me.

Thanks for the insights 8th, I'll probably go to Blockbuster over the weekend and see if I can get series 1.
