Re: MEDICOM 1/6 Cowboy Bebop Spike Spiegel
I still not happy with either Medicom of Spike. The head is too small on the Knockin' On Heavens Door version and the comic version sculpt is manga accurate not anime accurate. Hopefully, there will be a company that will pick this line up and make the whole gang (besides Medicom, Volks is the only company to make a Cowboy Bebop figure...Faye)
Cheers

Snake, I agree with you. The anime is extremely popular in the U.S. but doesn't receive the attention that animes that are less popular receive.

That's because the US are not the target buyers.

Re: MEDICOM 1/6 Cowboy Bebop Spike Spiegel
I just bought a Spike figure on eBay, but upon closer inspection, looks like it's the first version!
Should've been more careful... ah well!

I agree the head is too small but still a nice figure. Love Cowboy Bebop!

Re: MEDICOM 1/6 Cowboy Bebop Spike Spiegel
Well my regular non-movie version of Spike Spiegel came in today. I was disappointed at first by it, but then after fiddling with Spike for about 10 minutes I'm liking him quite a bit more.
He's very heavy, like he has a metal skeleton or something underneath. This is bad as he is always at risk of toppling over even in a basic standing pose. He doesn't come with a stand either so Lupin III has kindly given his stand to him to minimize topplage.
His outfit is okay. Flip up his shirt and pin the suit in the back and you've got a pretty decent looking Spike!
Re: the head sculpt I don't know if I agree that it's more similar to the manga, I have read the manga before, but I do think this Spike's source material is from the TV series. It's big, but looks okay to me. One issue i have is that his mouth was panel lined with black ink; and they did a slightly sloppy job which is uncharacteristic of Medicom. From about 2 feet away and further, the head looks good, great in fact. Up closer, it doesn't look pretty.
The gun is his sole accesory; a one piece boring mold, just matte black.
No extra hands, but they are interesting sculpt; the right hand could be a "Bruce Lee" hang-ten style hand, or you can fit the pistol in there too. Likewise the left hand can be used in some wacky Jeet Kune Do ready pose or else used to cup the pistol or elbow or whatever.
No other features, holsters, cigarettes, etc. He really is barebones.
My biggest concern really is the dye stains to his forearms. Sitting in his shoebox for 7 years hasn't been good. Any suggestions to get rid of these dye stains would be appreciated. I may try Oxy or else just leave him exposed to sunlight.
Pics to come... promise. I wish more people will visit this area, there are some bad ass photos here.

Re: MEDICOM 1/6 Cowboy Bebop Spike Spiegel
I should add that I stupidly did a 'buy it now' for $58 for the figure. Shortly after winning the auction, several Spike's have popped up within days. They've all gone for under $35!! Ouch! I've gotta stop being so impulsive...
