Sorry to hear about your flaking suits, guys. I think it's likely the higher levels of humidity and tropical climate of Singapore... still, Medicom should have taken that into account when designing the outfit. Yeah, best to just stay away from the leather suits if they do that. How are your Takara Protect Gear figures holding up? They have pleather suits too.

I haven't checked my Takara figures in a while...they are all in the box & I'm afraid to check...

hi guys, finally I brave myself to cut the shadowmoon's armor here's some pics :

finally I cut that area, because that area is a bit hidden, also there's some curve to the inside, so the cutting path would be hidden by the shadow lol!

Image

and I manage to not gluing it yet, as long as it's not necessary to glue it, because it's on the back which mean it's isn't too visible.

And thanks to the curve shape of the whole armor that could give a little pressure to keep the shape steady, so I use a tape to help it on it's still position, so I can remove the armor anytime just in case if there's another unfortunate event like broken parts, etc...

especially the arms which already broken both. (I found the broken arms were Okay and Strong enough to get any pressure even a hard pressure by just using super glue! I did a hard pressure in my many attempts to put the armor to his body by force but the arms is good not loosen or broke again.. wow...!)

I did it with these tools, fortunately the art knife is a brand new and it could cut a clean stroke easily.. phew... emoticon

well after all he's back with his menacing aura, I'm happy because my favorite figure is back! And now I could repair him anytime or whatever happened to him so he could exist forever!! lol Well it's good I could repair him, I try to not open my shadowmoon spare, so I hope the spare is okay in his box, I'm really afraid of the humidity issue that causing the figure broken even if it's stored in the box and sealed...

btw is there any tips or any experience about collecting a figure in a Sealed and Mint in box condition for a long term?

Thanks guys!!! I hope this might help everyone who needs it emoticon

if i display m figures (the next no. 1 n 2) in airtight cabinet, it will prolong the flaking from happenin rite?

sad that medicom figures r so ex and so non lasting (for so-called leather suits)

I don't know, I think someone with chemistry degree needs to help answer this question for everybody...

Many thanks for the condolences emoticon
Now I need to source for someone who has the skill to help me re-fabricate the suit. But this time, I will use real leather. Probably difficult to find real leather which is thin enough to use.

I do not possess a chemistry degree. But I think that it will make the flaking happen faster. It's just like keeping your figures mint in the box. All the hot and humid air in there will make the suits deteriorate faster. My two cents.

I tends to agree with darktrick on his observation here. My Old No.1 Ver 2 were in the glass display cabinet all the time. All my windows were shut tight and blind pulled whenever I leave for work in the morning. But when I return in the evening, I always felt a sense of heat and humidity trapped inside the house.
And my figure being in the cabinet with closed glass panel doors meaning stagnant air probably caused the acceleration of deterioration.
If you leave your figure displayed out in the open, it probably will delay the rotting effect. However, it will STILL rot, just a matter of time.

I too agree. I was hunting a medicom vader last year. And from my experience with sellers, those kept in box flake more than those on display. I end up buying one that is display but in very good condition and since it is not MIB it's cheaper.

What I did now is every quarterly I will have to apply the leather cleaner and conditioner to the suit. I learnt that even leather will cracked and flaked. told leather needs to breath and be "oiled" to maintain its softness. No doubt all this figure's suit are not leather, I believe it behave in the same manner.

Anybody have any luck getting a replacement suit for their Kamen Rider 1 and Cyclone figure? I recently bought one as well, and as predicted, the suit was already starting to flake when I opened the box. I was smart enough not to put him on the Cyclone yet (for fear he might stain it), but find the whole thing unacceptable for that price. If anyone makes any progress on getting a new suit from Medicom, please post about it here.
