Car parking
Mendip District Council almost doubled car parking charges for the first hour in Frome, and massive increases were seen for all times of parking except season tickets. Town councillors and shops have spoken out against this increase saying it will kill the viability of the town.
Ambulance and fire services have said that people are blocking the roads as they park inconsiderately, and the police have said they will be cracking down on illegal parking.
Are these things related? Is there a better way to solve the parking problem in Frome? Should there be better public transport available or is Frome just too congested with traffic to cope?

I think that by increasing the parking charges in Frome, Mendip district council are forcing away local shoppers who will go elsewhere to shop where the parking is cheap or free. The retailers are already struggling to compete with out of town stores and the increased use of online shopping without making it harder for them. Why wont Mendip listen to us and our councillors?
