Hi all the Paj lad's and lassies dos your Paj smoke whilst towing a caravan as mine dos,do you know of anyone that makes a tempory exhaust to eliviate this problem?Before I left to go to the Pajero& Shogun rally at Banham Zoo ( which was great ) I connected a small bit of exhaust pipe that was approx 4" off the ground inside my chrome exhaust it looked a bodge BUT it almost did the trick,ie not to much sootand smoke dust on the back of my caravan,when we went out I just disconnected it and before our journy home just inserted it ,screwed it up tight and bingo!!
There is a coy that sell these downward small pipes but they are almost £30.00 surely in our Club there must be an engineer that could produce a downward pipe that could be like mine just attached for towing?

You kept the caravan clean then!  The only pipe I can think of that may do the job is a downpipe. Most car parts & motor factors sell these.
Some members do say their's smokes more when towing. If you're not heavy footed and the rad, fan, water pump, diesel pump and injectors all work OK, I guess you could try blanking the EGR.

Hi mate Rich here from banham rally, if you give me the size of your tail pipe ill have a look and see what pipe i got and weld one together for you, i may have to do one for mine also. hope your all doing well take care hopefully see you all on the next rally.

Hi Richard and Deb,Ist of all ,"Love your Paj" looks very nice and I know its got a good "Home" with loads of TLC .Make sure you get some too Deb haha.Rich I have just bought a EGR kit comprising of two 6mm polished steel gaskets that completely seals & gets rid of the EGR valve and is reckoned to give more MPG,and BHP also NO SMOKE,Graham and I are fitting it on Fri,will notify you with the result ok.
