Gear changes auto box
I increased the tick over due to being a little low about 5-600rpm. now where it should be.
When giving the old girl a little oil she moves from 1st to 2nd and third and that is were the problem lies. When on the oil she runs smoothly to 4000rpm and moves to third which she holds for approx 2-3 sec ie 2-300rpm and changes in 4th.
Question is this right??
If not how do I correct the issue??

Re: Gear changes auto box
Unless I've misunderstood your explanation, it seems to be revving a bit high before it goes into 4th.
Is this a 2.5 or a 2.8? The 2.5 throttle bracket is held on by a bolt. The bolt can come out and this plays havoc with the gear change because it affects the kickdown cable.
Check that the bolt is still there. If it is, you could check the adjustment on the kickdown cable.

Re: Gear changes auto box
Its a 2.8 and yes the screw had come out. Replaced and reset. Tick over is now better and so is the kick down. What I did was to adjust the cable which sits in a housing on the bulk head under the windscreen. Behind the rocker cover there is one cable in and two out. I do not know what it runs to but looks like a vacum type of device can not find it in the hayes book. This has had a major effect on performance but she still will not hold 3rd for very long better but not right.
