Bio Fuel
Yes the question/subject has come up.
I have done the deed and moved the fuel burn over to bio fuel(cooking oil). I installed the kit last year and have reg'd with the tax office and I pay my taxes. It is cheaper and also great for the air too Co2. If you are thinking of doing the same just drop a line and I will let you know what I have done and how it works. I do not sell these thing's I use and Iam very pleased with the results.

Re: Bio Fuel
I've seen quite a few Pajeros which run on this. Do you have any problems with the fuel filter?

Re: Bio Fuel
What I have done is to put two in line filters in. This will stop the issue and makes the main filter last a lot longer. One for large items i.e. bits and the other a paper type.
The only issue was a clip which came louse which only took 5min to sort. Other wise great, done about 10k so far and the old girl has done 123k. What I did notice was a better burn and better fuel consumption. The engine runs better too.
Have visited France twice on it, and all was well.
Any question drop me a line.

Re: Bio Fuel
Hi there,
I have recently purchased a 1996 SWB 2.5GLS Shogun and am interested in running it on Biofuel.
I have found a place near me that sells 100% rapeseed biofuel for 80p a LITRE. Other than replacing my fuel filter once the fuel has had its cleaning effect, are there any other modifications needed?
Any advice would be appreciated,
Thanks,
Chris

Re: Bio Fuel
Hi Chris
With Bio fuel you need to ensure the rubber pipe work is replaced with silicone or other but not natural rubber as it will eat it way. I just use straight rapeseed oil and I run a twin tank system. One for road diesel for start up and switch off. The main tank in the truck is filled with oil. Works fine for me and you can mix diesel with oil in the main tank but no where else, best not to start up on it from cold if you do.
Bio fuel is not as good for the enviro as rapeseed oil as you have a lot of processing to achieve the end product and some very nasty chemicals are used to make the stuff with some by products which have to be got rid of.
Rapeseed is best as it totally Co balanced ie plant sucks in and we push out no extra only the small amount in the road diesel when starting and finishing. My shogun 2.8cc 12 years old went for its MOT and tested at .42 the VW sharan 1.9cc 3 years old I have, tested at .67 need I say more??
Good luck in all you do, and keep us posted.

Re: Bio Fuel
Thats great, thanks for all your info. Did you install the twin tank system yourself or did you get it done somewhere (if so, where?) I have some basic knowledge of mechanics, but would be happier getting someone qualified to install any kit if it is complicated.
I am looking forward to the lower emissions and smoother running...and of course the lower cost!
Thanks again.

Re: Bio Fuel
Hi Chris
The twin tank system is very easy to do if you can put spots on your car you will not have any issues. The pluming for the heat exchanger took some time but not a lot in the grand scheme of things. It took me the full weekend but I made brackets etc for all the pipe work. But should you wish for some one to fit, the company that I bought mine from Dieselveg based in the west mids, will fit at a price, they have a great sit on the web and have done loads of cars/vans etc.
Have fun and be safe.
