Shogun 1998 - I think they were not around long can't find any tech details
Hi
I have a november 1998 shogun 2.8 TDI. It had lost its owners manual when i got it so its taken a while to work out some of the gadgets.
This model seems to only have been manufactured between 1998 - around 2000? Its the last version of what i would call the classic shogun before the very different modern ones. You can tell its the half way version as it has a flaring back end and some other differences in the body and trim styling The trouble is when i try to buy things for it they don't fit!!!
I did get a pajero owners manual and that has helped, but doesn't answer all the questions.
One question that i'm still puzzled with is how can i lock the car with the dog in it? If i lock the car, but don't set the alarm, the alarm seems to arm itself after 5 - 10 mins and as soon as the dog moves the alarm goes off, so its a bit limiting for taking the dog around.
As my lovely shogun was bought to replace horse box and car with shogun and trailer, it is often needed to car dog as well!!!
If anyone knows how I can get hold of a manual so i can work out all the knobs and switchs that would be great.

I'm not sure which alarm they had fitted as standard, but you'd expect there to be an option for the situation you describe! I had a look on the net and found some info on this link, which may be of help to you. If not, you could contact the website owners and they may be able to advise. If none of this helps and you know the make of the alarm, you could also contact them and they may be able to help. http://www.thatchamsecurity.co.uk/car/category_1/original_equipment/mitsubishi.htm

Re: Shogun 1998 - I think they were not around long can't find any tech details
Hi many thanks I have looked at the website you suggested and yes it looks to be a Cat 2, the dongle thing and clicker thing look the same and when i clicked on more details it said Mitshibushi Diamond pack 1998 on, and i know that it has the Diamond pack (not sure whatt that is?) but it seems to have everything added i can have. That is assuming that TC2 - xxx means cat 2?
When i clicked on the "more details" it only had a few pages of a bigger document with car details and i couldn't see any details on how the alarm worked have you any ideas where to look now that you have idendified what type of alarm the car has?

Sorry No, I'm no expert on alarms. Now you know which alarm you have, I'd suggest calling in to your friendly Mitsi dealer or alarm fitter and asking which switch you need to press. Fingers crossed they'll be able to help.

Re: Shogun 1998 - I think they were not around long can't find any tech details
Have you found out how to sort the alarm yet?
If not, scroll to the bottom of page 11 on the following link, it says your Shogun would have had the Mitsubishi Optimum HF2/Dual HF: Thatcham alarms website link.
Now you know what alarm is fitted, you can ask their technical helpline for advice here: Thatcham technical helpline.
If that's no use, maybe you could search for a Thatcham alarm repairer in your area on the following link: Thatcham alarm repairers
Ask him which button you press so you can leave the alarm on while your dog is in the wagon. Or he might have a users manual?

Easy option of course is to remove the alarm fuse. That is if you dont need the alarm but you probably dont with a dog in the car!
