Strange noise from under dashboard

Hi I hope someone can help, today my paj started making a really odd noise from behind the dash, it sounds like a fan blowing air from behind the dash almost like the heater being on full, only it isn't!
another strange point is that the noise seems to increase when accelerating.
I am lost and have no idea what is happening.
please help.
Nathen

I'm clutching at straws here, and not sure what it could be?
But have you checked the windscreen rubber seal - that can come loose, vibrate at speed and sound like the noise is coming from the dash. If it's this, you could silicone it back into place.

I didn't know you could hear it when parked... still can't think of exactly what it could be, there are so many parts behind that dash!
I did have one that made a whirring noise, like the noise made by one of those old wind-up clocks, just before they chime the hour... that was the speedo face itself. I lubricated it with silicone and it was fine. But it didn't make the noise when parked, so no good for your problem.
