Good evening

Hi everyone. My name's Stephanie but everyone on runboard that I know call me Moonie. I am a writer, or well trying to be a writer. I have several works in progress and I came upon this board through a vampire search. I hope to some day soon get up the courage to post a bit of some of my works and get some opinions.

Hi Moonie,

welcome on board!

People who write are writers. emoticon Seriously, if you have works in progress, you are a writer. If you have that urge to tell a story, you're a writer. And if you actually enjoy weaving a tale with words, you're a writer.

I know it's a tough step to start to show your work - that's what we have the Practice Hall for. It's application based, so you're not quite showing your work to the whole world.

If you feel ready, we can find a few places to submit your work to, so you can eventually say you are a published writer. emoticon It doesn't matter how far into the future that is, you can find help here.

So, once again, welcome and happy writing! emoticon

Thank you for the kind welcome, Firle. You actually said something in your welcome that gave me a boost and I think tomorrow I will get back to writing more than a few paragraphs a day. I have been struggling with a bit of writers' block. That is, I suddenly became afraid no one would enjoy my work as much as I do. Thank you for that. (Actually it was when you said "If you have that urge to tell a story, you're a writer. And if you actually enjoy weaving a tale with words, you're a writer" that I was inspired. Thank you again.)

Welcome, Moonie!

And yes, I second Firle's words (though not so eloquently, I suspect!)

I have an important question, though! How did you get your little avatar-picture to move?! Well, I suppose it's just a gif or something, but I had no idea they were ALLOWED to move on this site! So exciting!

Hi! Yes it is a gif and if it's a problem to have it, I can remove it. The few other sites I post at haven't had a problem with it so I never thought that it could be a problem.

Welcome to the site and I'm sure we're all very interested in seeing a sample of your work if you ever feel confident to post a few paragraphs or so. emoticon No doubt it will be a lot better then many works I've seen in certain places though. emoticon

As for the avatar, I doubt it is anything not allowed, else I'm sure people would say so. I think they're more jealous they didn't think of it themselves. emoticon There are one or two people around here who should be more familiar with the general rules though, so I'm sure they'll comment if it's a problem, but once again, I doubt it is. On a side note it's a very cute avatar.

Thanks for the welcome. I am currently as I am sitting here at my computer putting together a revised first few chapters of one of the stories. I may get around to wanting to post it soon. And thanks for the words of encouragement. emoticon

And I am definitely sure if it's a problem, someone will say something. I can't remember where I found it but I've been using it now for quite awhile here on runboard.

Oh, no no! I didn't mean to imply it was a problem! I just didn't realize that runboard was equipped to deal with moving objects in the avatar spot! That's all. As QS said, it's a form of envy for not thinking of it myself!

First and foremost, thanks for taking the initiative to post an introduction. It really does help to know a little about the person you are speaking to.

Do not sweat the bout of writers' block. It happens to many writers, and I suspect that many truly great writers also struggle with the feeling that no one else will enjoy their projects. I certainly do, and I know many published authors who do as well.

Take a look at the Flash Challenge which is one of our ways of encouraging people to write. You may also want to participate in the next Workshop which is as yet unplanned.

Welcome to MA, hope you enjoy your stay!
