Positive feedback from friends

I regularly show my writing to a couple of friends as part of a mini writers group.
I find it very helpful because it gives me a kind of deadline, but nothing to actually become stressed about.

Anyway over the last few months I've shown them chapters 1-3 of my fantasy murder mystery story (this being about the 3rd go of my writing it). They saw chapter 3 for the third time the other day, it needed rewrites but is nearly there now.

Anyway my one friend described the story as charmingly mysterious.
My other friend said he liked the Agatha Christie on drugs feel of it. I checked and it seems that the 'on drugs' part of it is the fairies (as in otherworldly, elf types) and homosexuality.

These seem like pretty good reactions. emoticon emoticon

It does at that, yes. Best of luck finishing them and I hope after they won't find much wrong with them any more. emoticon

Yeah, I love swapping stories with friends. It's a great way to get a little useful feedback and a lot of moral support. I've a friend who I swap stories with via email -- we don't write on the same time scales, so I "group" wouldn't work as well as it does for you -- and it really helps both of us. Plus it gives us something to talk about at lunch, if no one else shows up!

My friends don't write on the same timescale as me. Most of the time we're a talking about things group.

One of them brought in a half done chapter last week because we'd been bugging him for something for months.
It's very casual and fairly random and as much socialising as anything else.
