I won a competiton

...on Mark Millar (a pretty high-profile comic writer)'s forum. They run a regular competition for fans to submit comic scripts on a specific topic, purely for fun.

I have been entering them regularly for the last year and I rarely do very well, except now I've won two out of the last three I've entered (although only two of us actually entered the last one so it doesn't feel like such a big deal emoticon )

Anyway, one of the perks of winning is that I get to set the next competition topic. So anyone who has run out of things to write and fancies a try at comic scripts (hint hint, you know who you are) should scoot over and have a look: http://forums.millarworld.tv/index.php?showtopic=90418

(P.S. I've chosen a Halloween theme so the deadline is the end of this month! emoticon emoticon )

Congrats, Meadows! That's awesome. And two in a row, even!

(Alas, I am not the comic book writer who you are so subtly hinting at.)

Was that hint at me?

I'll have a look even if it wasn't, but I'm not so good with the short things...

And congratulations.

I'd procrastinate now, but it would be easier tomorrow.

"Full script" means you write everything broken down by panels, with directions to the artist, dialogue, etc. It's the way that I write my "Heroes" scripts.

It's to distinguish it from the "plot first" method, which is where you write just a plot outline which the artist draws from, then you add the dialogue after you see the finished art.

Full script is more common and is probably what most people would naturally do, but there have been a couple of competitions which asked for just plot breakdowns so I thought I should be specific.

It has always been fun for me to imagine the "Heroes" comic, because David has been describing the panels so well.

Two days to think of a story, four to write.
Comics are easy than novels, then...
