The Golden Book of Faerie by O.R. Melling
This was a Christmas gift. It's actually an omnibus volume of four books: The Hunter's Moon, The Summer King, The Light-Bearer's Daughter, and The Book of Dreams. So far I've read the first two and I'm really enjoying them. They're YA fantasy, set in Ireland but with main characters from Canada, and a lovely conglomeration of Irish and faerie myth and legend. The writing is beautiful without being overwrought. Highly recommended!

It sounds interesting.
Is this "urban" fantasy? I suppose I mean to ask whether the story is taking place in our time and on this Earth, basically.

They're set in contemporary Ireland, but in the countrysides and wild places mostly. Does that make them "urban" fantasy? Perhaps, I'm not sure. I guess I would call them contemporary fantasy. Urban fantasy for me conjures up stories of the magical or fantastic within the mainstream of society, where in these the magic remains on the fringes.
The main characters change from book to book but I have a feeling they will be coming together in the last book (or some of them, at any rate). When I started the second book I was surprised by this as it's unusual for a set of linked books.
Definitely worth a read!

Thanks for the clarification.
I agree, the term "urban" fantasy wouldn't quite fit a story set on the fringes of civilization, even if it's contemporary. I have to admit that you are really tempting me with this description, too.
