Neat gadgets from the past

At this linky over here you can find some great devices from the past. It is interesting how past civilizations have oftently been underestimated and this kind of makes you wonder how much we missed and how we might not know about life in the past... Though I suppose most of this was mostly for the rich, it does make you wonder what could have been. emoticon

Ah, the Turk... As someone with an interest in chess, I've certainly heard of this clever little device before. Even though it has to be considered a "hoax," I always thought it was a pretty neat idea with some interesting mechanical invention.
