Q&A with Philip Pullman

(Wasn't sure where this belonged really...)

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/arts_and_culture/7774176.stm

These are my favourite answers:

how/where did you first get the idea about people having daemons?

by sitting and thinking/in the shed at the bottom of my garden.

What is dust? Does the idea come from mythology or space science?

it came out of my head.

Sometimes I think people don't believe that writers are actually good at making stuff up emoticon

Edited to fix the typo in the topic title emoticon

Thanks for the link, David.

I like most of his answers - plain, normal writers' answers. At least he doesn't spout any stuff about mystical inspriation and such. emoticon

I disagree. There are lots of sucessful control freak authors emoticon

That was an interesting interview. Though I think he comes across as a bit pompous at times.

Some of his answers were blatant contradictions to what he has said before.

And if dust wasn't inspired by Dark Matter...well...I just don't know... emoticon
