 Males no longer needed?
In this link they discuss how they can now in principle make sperm cells from female bone marrow, thus obviously leading to the possibility of no longer needing men for procreation.
Also noted is the possibility to make egg cells from male bone marrow, though obviously you still need a woman to carry the child for you, at least for now.
Soo, will the future hold all one gender people? Or perhaps only in some places? What does everyone think? Is it an interesting concept?
PS I think I once read a story about something like this before.

It makes me wonder: If all the genetic data you have to start with is female, how could you possibly end up with bouncing baby boys?

Well I believe that you can't really. At least not normally, You'd need some genetic splicing probably if you wanted that to work. So in practice female couples would only get female children and males could get either.

But it doesn't matter if females can only have female children by this method, as we've already established that they don't need males

Yeah, I thought of that. But really, you guys are useful for some things besides just mating. I mean, if there were no guys, who would lift heavy boxes and hang high-on-the-wall clocks? And who else could we sucker into taking out the trash on a winter morning? Also, we'd have to invent mobile sunshades and windblocks for walking, if you were gone. There are many useful applications for males, so I don't think it'd be a good idea to get rid of all of you!
