Ever get that feeling the salesman is a bit too eager?

Apparently, my wireless network extends for up to 200 metres, and can support 50 devices attached to it.

All I wanted was coverage in my bedroom and my living room, for my laptop and my PS3.

My street has five buildings in it (4 flats in each building). My street isn't even 200 metres.

I hope he enjoys his commission.

I think the problem is in part with the ability to get through walls, your range declines greatly when the signal has to pass through walls. And so it is possible that to ensure normal users will always get a signal, they have to crank the power up so far that with a clear point of view you can get 200 meters range.

Of course, I'm partially speculating her, but it doesn't seem entirely unrealistic.

I could also be wrong, but I suspect QS has a point here. Also, a salesman would much rather sell you something with a little too MUCH range than a little too little range. After all, you're less likely to complain that you got more than you paid for, but very likely to complain if the device doesn't work as you'd hoped.

I mean *cough cough* so I can come visit...yeah that's it... visit...

Oh come on, you know you've done it to!

I had an over eager salesman the other day, trying to get us to change our energy company.
Usually you explain that you're happy with your current provider and sometimes they want you to say why, which you don't have to do. In our case it's because my fiance was working for one of the nectar group at the time and they did us a deal. But usually they just say OK and leave.

This guy wouldn't accept it when my fiance said that. He keep saying that his company (which he wouldn't reveal at first) would be cheaper, that they could give us the same deal (which they couldn't).
Argh! It was so annoying he just wouldn't take no for an answer and he kept talking really fast and sounding friendly even though he was being massively pushy.

I'm just glad my fiance was there. I'd have just been kinda intimidated and wanting to get away.

There are laws to curtail pushy doorstep salesmen in England. You should have asked for his ID, noted his name and organisation, and reported him to... er, I forget who you report it to, but I'm sure you can google it.

I usually just stut the door in their faces. Literally, on one occasion. Yes it's rude -- but so was he, if he didn't take your not-so-subtle hints that you weren't interested. Don't be intimidated, DragonLady -- next time, just be FIRM.
