Hmmm.... I'm not sure. Possibly. Though really, it's Earth's Van Allen Belts, not the atmosphere that protect us from the Sun's radiation. Saturn's version of a Van Allen Belt CAUSES the radiation in the areas through which it moves (and those in which its moons pass). I'm not really sure whether the radiation would be eliminated by an atmosphere, or if the radiation would just energize parts of that atmosphere instead.
Good question! Anyone have any theories?
