A Fantastic Palm Tree Scientiests found a new genus of palm tree in Madagascar. It seems this tree grows for centuries, and then errupts into one huge, tremendous flower stalk, expending so much energy that it dies after this one reproductive event.
It would make a great prop for a fantasy world, wouldn't it? I could see this mentioned in legends, sayings or even as place for offerings. Let such a tree be guarded as holy tree by an order of priests, maybe? Or as the most prized possession of a dynasty, with the dire prediction that it'll die when the tree dies?
