MC's

What do your main characters look like? I love reading about main characters in stories, and i love becoming them.

My MC is a 13 year old with black hair to her shoulders. she has honey colored eyes with glod flecks near the center, thin lips, an arched nose, and is slim.

Re: MC's

My MC looks as the target audience wants him or her. If I'm writing for YA, he's a kid with some features that everyone can envision more precisely in their own mind. (Hmm. Might be a good idea to check out boy groups and their looks... :P )

Having said that, I don't mind going for types that are unconventional, but there is nothing I would insist on. Often enough, I hardly know what they look like, except from hair color or eye color.

Re: MC's

I rarely give much description to a MC. The most detail I usually give is something like "young, blonde, slim". I spend a lot more time describing the secondary characters and adversaries.

I pretend that this is so that the readers can more easily put themselves in the MC's position, but actually I think I'm probably just lazy!

I have noticed that I describe female characters in more detail than male characters. I'm trying to change that...

Re: MC's

I have a personality for the MC earlier than looks. It was a surprise to me recently when I wanted to do a quick casting for my heroes that I have no idea how the major players are supposed to look like.

Yes, I remember that I was stumped when I was asked which stars look like my heroes. It's a good exercise.

My MC changes from story to story. I don't usually tell you right out how they look. I hope readers can get what they want from dialogue of other people ect...

Other characters I describe in more detail, but usually just one or two features that are odd.

I don't usually spend a lot of time on description, unless the character whose POV I'm writing is moved by the way something looks.

You're not the only one who does this! However my current MC is "young, with dirty blonde hair, and slim" emoticon

My main characters look like whatever the situation calls for. I typically have a very clear visual picture in my mind before I describe them and I’m pretty specific most of the time. The only time I skimp on descriptions is if I do not want to spend that long working on the story. But because of my personal style, by default my mains have a gothic edge to them – in one fashion or another.
