The creatures of Dark Prophecy
When I started planning my book(s), I had thought of placing all sorts of demi-humans, fantastical creatures, even angels of a sort on my world. However, so far, I've only included orcs. Granted, I'm only about a sixth of the way through the book, but I'm wondering about the best way to sprinkle superstition and fables about the rest of these creatures into the story,so that when they finally appear, it's not a surprise/unrealistic (as realistic as an earth-bound angel doing battle with the Ogre-king can be, I guess...)

Re: The creatures of Dark Prophecy
I find that curses, threats or "ancient sayings" serve well for a casual introduction. Or you could use carvings, paintings or names of inns. Just get the words into the story, then having those creatures appear for real isn't as much of a surprise.
I hope that helps.
