inspirational movies
Can anyone suggest any movies that will inspire or empower women? Other movies that I found on this sight were focused on the psychopath or narcissist and I need to get away from him emotionally. I'm having trouble trying how to motivate myself to get out of bed and live again, as I don't know how to do it without having this troubled relationship as the center of my life. I need some positive encouragement and motivation! Thanks!

Re: inspirational movies
I'm thinking of 4 movies where I was proud of the heroine in the story:
"Sleeping with the Enemy" is a thriller with some violence, which focuses on how the wife escapes an abusive marriage.
"Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore" Single widowed mom starting over. Tribulations and trials to find herself.
"Waitress" pregnant by her abusive husband,
another story on her trials to deal with the toxic in her life. An art movie, dark comedy/drama.
"Whale Rider" is a heartwarming movie about a young girl that refuses to follow her indigenous traditional gender role as a Maori in New Zealand. This has nothing to do with mental illness or nasty hubbies, but just makes you proud of her girl power

Re: inspirational movies
Thank you. One thing that I did not like about Sleeping with The Enemy and I even think (it's been a long time since I've seen it) even Alice Doesn't LIve Here Anymore is that they both end up having new loves in their lives pretty quickly and of course they are handsome, sweet, and non-abusive. I wish there were more movies about women being happy without a man in their life. At least, that is what I'm struggling so much with right now...the loneliness that my N/P has left me with..a big hole. Regardless, I will definitely check them out again and i look forward to seeing Waitress and Whale Rider. Thanks so much.

I'm with you! If I can think of some more movies with women being empowered on their own, I'll list again

Re: inspirational movies
Two good kick-ass movies about strong women are "Enough" with Jennifer Lopez and "Panic Room" with Jodie Foster.

Re: inspirational movies
I just watched "Secret Life of Bees". The main character daughter was very intuitive for her age about her father's abusiveness.
At the age of 14 she states that her father isn't able to feel.
