An alternative red flag list
Hello,
I posted this under another topic column:
These are all great links for overt abusers, but what about telltale signs of covert abusers, the ones who know how to put the act on. It would be nice if Sam Vaknin with his narcissistic expertise would give us a list of covert signs or ways to make them slip up the act, draw the mask down of those who are severely narcissistic and have their scripts down pat. Hmmm...would be an interesting read...anyone?
I have a few questions: What are ways to find when dating the covert signs of a narcissist who is the master of disguise? Cut through the act that is.
Another Q is how common is it for someone to have full blown NPD, not just many traits, a few, (not down playing these, these are equally as devastating to those affected), but all the traits, no co morbid ailments like BPD, P, just a full blown covert NPD, whose whole life is the disorder? Scholars estimate less than 1%. I am just trying to figure that if I were to ever date again, my chances of meeting someone like my N would be considerably low.
I just cannot imagine I would meet someone again who would have a huge aversion to one portrait placed in the house, no conversation ever accept the same monologue, admitting they just need time to go by, because there is just blackness inside, admitting to scripts made for everyone, "just play right, and everything will be okay." His reply to every disappointment is, projection (depending on subject or mood) or, "this is me." Thanx
