Test Out the Features
At twenty-twenty-'s suggestion, this part of the forum is for you to try out the posting features. If you want to try making an avatar and then post to see if it works or if you want to work with the quote function, bold, inserting links, or whatever, this is the place to do it.
There will be tutorials going up this weekend on how to use the features of the board under the General Information and Tips Board on this section. The Avatar creation instructions are there now. More to follow. Here's the thread to check for updates.

Have fun. You can start new threads or add to this one. If you have any questions, just post.
Lynn

Re: Test Out the Features
I have to say, I LOVE this place.... but posting pics is a real pain in the neck!!!! I have posted them before, but I just had to repeat and repeat the process just on the 'take a break' board!
Lynn, is there an easier way to post pics?
I don't mind it as such, it's just really fiddly!

Re: Test Out the Features
Hi, Kyra. I know it's fiddly, but putting the pics or images in your own hosting account and then putting the URL from the hosting account here is the proper procedure. Doing it otherwise is considered stealing bandwidth from other sites.
Sorry. I wish it were easier. I know that people on MSN probably took some liberties with copying and pasting pics without hosting them first, but it really should not have been done. The MSN rules pretty much made that clear. I'm quite sure that runboard will not abide direct linking because it is bandwidth theft. It is everywhere unless the site where the original pic resides specifically says that a direct link is ok.
Hugs,
Lynn

Re: Test Out the Features
What are the steps to quote another post in your own post?
I don't seem to be getting that yet.
Thanks for any help.

Go to the post you want to quote and hit 'quote' in the member box next to it. This will automatically copy their post and pull up a reply box with their post included in it as a quote.
If you only want to quote a portion of their message, then simply scroll over the parts you don't wish to include in your reply in the reply box and hit 'delete'. Just make sure you do not delete the part of the quote you want to include nor the brackets with 'quote' and '/quote' in them.
If you don't want to copy somebody's whole post, you can also use the quote buttons at the top of the reply box. To use the quote function in general, for instance if you find one line somewhere you want to copy and quote, or you want anything to show as a quote, then use the buttons at the top of the reply box. Hit 'Quote', type the thing you want to quote and the name attributed it to, then hit the '/Quote' button. That ends the quote portion. Then you type your response.

Still doesn't look quite right. The lines appeared. But I'm working on it. Thanks.
