 Misery Loves Company
I too have been traumatized by a Narcissist in the workplace. After doing some on-line (alright, I googled it)research after a few thoughts, I then (thanks to Sam Vaknin) fully realized that my supervisor was indeed, a Classic Case Narcissist. I have been using Sams literature and my experience with the supervisor and posting side-by-side on an Excel spreadsheet. My supervisor, like me, is a federal employee. He has managed to hide his personality disorder by sneaking in the back door to success, and then remaining at the top, therefore, he controls "all". He is all that Sam has pointed out in his literature. My superisor is a stalker, braggard, liar, thinks he's handsome (he's ugler than homemade soap), women love him, indispensible, really mean if you stand up to him, and the list goes on. Next month will be my 12th year around this walking pile of BS. I can see why his wife is in Colorado right now. I can see by Sams literature why my bosses wife is in the poor state of mind she's been in for years. For years I felt like the Dementors in one of the Harry Potter movies I saw. All of your goodnessis sucked out of your body, and theres nothing less but your carcass.

Hi Outlaw, you've seen the face of NPD. Nasty isn't it.
It's usually at this time that the N realizes that you might become a threat to him and so he chooses to target and bully you. Often with poor outcome. Protect yourself.
Glad you're here. You seem to be able to cope with him so far. Therefore you must be doing something right.
They crawl to the top by stepping on top of of those they trample. They are very adept at initating a smear campaign against people as a pre-emptive strike and most people simply believe them. Devils on earth.

The other coping strategy is to give up on him. Abandon him and go about reconstructing your own life. Very few people deserve the kind of investment that is an absolute prerequisite to living with a narcissist. To cope with a narcissist is a full time, energy and emotion-draining job, which reduces the persons around the narcissist to insecure nervous wrecks. Who deserves such a sacrifice? No one, to my mind, not even the most brilliant, charming, breathtaking, suave narcissist. The glamour and trickery wear thin and underneath them a monster lurks which sucks the affect, distorts the cognition and irreversibly influences the lives of those around it for the worse.

femfree, Thanks. It was quite the revelation when I was finally able to put a label on this individual. He is Satan reincarnated! I will read the literature you suggested when I get back from Macaroni Grill. And thanks for providing this site. I know my ranting and raving is out of control right now about this individual, so thanks for letting me vent to some folks who really know the true hell these N's make us live until we can get away from them.
