Re: New Website Maligant N's Impact on Children
Hi. I'm new here. It's nice to know that there are other people who have experienced the same thing as me. For the longest time I've been seeing therapists and trying to talk to family/friends about my dad, but none of them believe me because he is such a good actor. They all think that it's just me being a spoiled and ungrateful daughter (which is the role he has cast for me ever since I started realizing he wasn't God incarnate). On top of my N father, I also have major depressive disorder, which certainly didn't help things growing up. My mom divorced him and moved out and left me alone with him, so I took the full force of his attack. That was 10 years ago. And he's still trying to control and manipulate me. I was recently married and he ruined my wedding because he doesn't "approve". I'm constantly stressed because I'm afraid of what my dad will do next and as a result of my stress my new husband and I are always fighting. I feel like my father is angry at me for doing something he didn't want me to and that now he is hellbent on destroying my life. I just don't know what to do...

Re: New Website Maligant N's Impact on Children
Izzy,
Welcome. You aren't alone in your problems with your dad. Read as much as you can on Narcissism. Knowledge of what makes these people tick helps to deal with relationships. One thing I learned is to detach as much as possible from the Narcisssist in your life. I know it's hard when it's your dad. That's my situation, too.

It's sad. They are miserable themselves. Try to keep in mind Narcissists are unhappy and want to upset others. It's not your fault they are that way. You aren't responsible for their feelings.
