Re: Where is the rest of the club?
I just joined, too. I really enjoyed my first meeting last time and being able to see Steve Beam perform. I'm looking forward to learning from you more accomplished pros.
There's just so much you can learn from books and DVDs. They can never answer basic questions as to why I'm having trouble with a particular move! Why are the cards sliding on a double-lift or even what should be a simple injog? Oh, well, eventually I'll nail them down...
Tnx,
Bill

Re: Where is the rest of the club?
Hey there Bill, These are great questions and be helped at the club. The alignment of your double depends really on what double you are doing. Sooo do you know what double lift you are doing? Brian

Re: Where is the rest of the club?
Brian -- I'll be quite happy to do any double lift undetectably . Evan started to show me one by the side which looks superior to the one in the Royal Road to Magic which lifts from the back. Once I can do a double lift then I can do the Rapid Transit trick which is the next one I'd like to be able to do.
I did a Google search and was surprised to see an overabundance of tutorials on double lifts, so many that I don't know which are good and which are not.
Does anyone have any recommendations for online tutorials for card sleights, or even just for the double lift (any double lift)?
Thanks,
Bill
P.S. By the way, the following video will you a general feel for my current level of skill, shows a UK card magician with a startling revelation, sort of a variation of the card on ceiling trick...

Re: Where is the rest of the club?
Hi Bill,
That was the Strike Double I showed you. You can likely find a tutorial for that one on-line, as well. You should also consider joining the club library. Many terrific resources available there. Have you visited the club web site?

Re: Where is the rest of the club?
Evan,
I had no idea there was so much in the library! Wow!!
I can only find online tutorials for purchase for the strike double, if anyone knows of any freely available collections of card sleights, e.g., for I.B.M. members or Genii subscribers, please let me know, a general collection of video clips of card sleights would be quite useful.
Thanks!
Bill

For those that wish to check out one of the books or DVDs from the club library, email Jeff Dial with your selection and he will bring it to the next club meeting.
