Re: Elections for moderators

Havent you edited Glitter's post just as she said you would yesterday?

So neither the response nor the post itself is any longer meaningful.

She didnt say democracy was ridiculous. What she said was that you were ridiculous in your interpretation of it. Havent you decided who is and who isnt a moderator and whether or not we have democracy and havent you decided who is and isnt bannned and what they can write editing out bits you dont like and arent you appointing moderators as you wish?

I also think the board has gone worse since you and Simpson took over.

Re: Elections for moderators

I agree with Mrs Jollipop, glitter's post has been edited in a way that has skewed it's original meaning.
I actually find this distasteful, if you disagree with a post so vehemently then respond to it or delete it completely and give a reason why. Don't edit it to change it's meaning for your own ends.
I am afraid this forum has lost it's attraction for me, I have debated whether to remain over the last few months and stuck with it, but it all now seems pretty pointless.

Re: Elections for moderators

The post was edited because Glitter has again posted details about other poster's private lives which Mrs Mollipop (who strangely seems to share the same internet connection as Glitter) chose to repost. This posting and reposting of other poster's private details is what led to the row in the first place when Glitter chose to leave.

We have had real problems in the past where posters have chosen to post details of the personal and work lives of other posters and this is not acceptable on a public discussion board. Some posters have had work investigations following posts on here and some have triggered legal processes.

It is inevitable that people will sometimes find themselves on boards with people they know in real life but it is always unacceptable to publicly post private information about other posters without their consent. It is nasty bullying behaviour and has no place on a board which is about discussing and debating nursing and health issues.

Re: Elections for moderators

Firstly, I'm no one's acolyte. I am an independent and free thinking person. I am quite capable of forming my own views and opinions.

Secondly, I am also against peoples personal lives being posted in public arenas as a stick to beat them with. I consider that to be bullying, and will remove any posts that are seen as such. Everyone has the right to a private life, and if the details are that salacious, sell it to the News of the World. Bitterness is no excuse.

Maybe, or maybe they are sick of the eternal conflicts that have changed a vibrant and different forum into a *****fest.

It is a shame Kitty and the board may or may not recover, only time will tell. As for other forums, I think the more the merrier. This board emerged from the Nursing Times forum and others emerged from the RCN forum and I suspect this will always be the case. There are dozens of nursing forums out there and people are often members of multiple forums anyway. If people are looking for the new forum, you can find it at http://inurse.myfreeforum.org/ and I hope it becomes a thriving successful forum.

From experience, when these huge rows explode forums can take several months to recover and when they do it is through a mix of some of the old crowd and new members that generally emerge at the other end. The NT forums is an interesting example that was utterly decimated by internal rows but is now thriving.

Re: Elections for moderators

I think this whole thing is a real shame. I really enjoyed coming here over the last year because there's always a range of things under discussion - silly stuff and serious stuff. It wasn't too congested with members although clearly it dropped off too much - some of the forums I personally find a bit 'busy'. I don't know enough about recent events to really form a view (and neither is it any of my business really) but it seems to me that disagreements have well and truly boiled over into the arena of the forum where they didn't belong. It is sad that things couldn't be sorted out in a more sensitive manner. This is all of our loss and nobody's gain. emoticon
