Proposed forum rules
The moderators have been talking about coming up with a set of forum rules as we have never actually had a set. The proposal is the following and we would welcome thoughts:
In order to keep the forums running well and to prevent problems, please follow these simple rules for the forums here. If you have any questions or problems, please feel free to contact one of the moderators or post a question in the Forum Forum.
1) While debating and discussion is fine, we will not tolerate posts designed to cause widespread offense (particularly attacks on religion, race, sexuality, etc) or purposeless inflammatory posts.
2) We will not tolerate posts which reveal personal information about a forum member without their consent. Some posters choose to remain anonymous and this should always be respected.
3) We will tolerate personal rows between posters but these will be moved to the Sluice. Again these rows must not infringe rules 1 and 2.
4) Advertising, spamming and trolling is not allowed. This includes using the forum email and Private message system to spam other members.
These rules will be enforced in the following way:
a) The post will be deleted or edited by a moderator and possibly moved to a more appropriate area and the member will be contacted directly.
b) Continued breaches or a single serious breach will be dealt with through a one month suspension of posting privileges. In severe circumstances and for particularly serious breaches, the poster may be permanently banned.
