Bonuses for Surgeons I see that the powers that be are talking about bonuses for surgeons who can out perform the rest.
Is this a good idea and will they be sharing those bonuses with the recovery staff and those carrying out vital post op care? I think not!
Re: Bonuses for Surgeons Therein lies the problem. A good outcome for a patient, or a bad one come to that, is down to team work. You can't reward one without the other. I think patients would find it abhorrent really.
Re: Bonuses for Surgeons Interesting interview on Radio 4 this morning with the Trust Chief Executive. They seem to be distancing themselves from rewarding individuals and saying that this would only apply to teams and also distancing themselves from financial bonuses at all. Methinks that this pilot idea will be shelved before it has ever been implemented.
