I can't quite see where you get that idea from Simpson. What about Mehdi Kamezi the Gay Iranian as but one example?

I was talking historically, jock. Of course, it's also a source of great shame that the government now sees fit to hound easy targets in order to look like it's "cracking down" on immigration, while allowing scum of varying degrees of hideousness to disappear into the ether only to re-emerge when they're plotting to blow up planes or running guns or trading in sex slaves.

The way the last few days have gone, it does make civil war look increasingly likely. I suspect the key will be whether the military will back Mugabe :(

I suspect that they will. Mugabe is merely the tip of the iceberg. A lot of people have a lot to lose in a shift of power. Self preservation rather than of love of Mugabe will get them out intimidating.

Re: Zimbabwe Elections

The sad thing is that Zimbabwe has the potential to be a prosperous country. When white rule ended, the farmers were forced off their land, and industrialists were forced out, and replaced by people without the knowledge to do the job. This has lead to the present situation, and Mugabe is the person mostly to blame for this. Let's face it South Africa was in an identical position, but due to a much more sensible method of ending minority rule, the country now prospers, but then Mugabe didn't spend years in prison as a dissenter did he.

Now instead of merely murdering his citizens, he is attempting to cut off their food aid as well. The actions of a desperate man.

Not soon enough I fear, it looks as if the MDC
are going to throw in the towel. Shame the place hasn't got any oil.

I don't think it's throwing in the towel as such Kitty, I think it is a gamble to get the international community to interven. I am not sure it will work though.

maybe, or maybe they are just sick of their followers getting slaughtered. That won't work either.
