courses

Well i am going to access the PCT for relevant courses that i need to do to help me in my new role as no in house training.
I am loving it and thank you all for asking.
Its a great environment and most of the people are lovely and some are helpful.
I still dont have any uniform.

Re: courses

There should be courses available, remember that you need to do the security courses as well as nursing, and they do count towards your time when you re-licence. I used to find courses which related to my role in the service, such as asthma, foot care, suturing, intubation, venepuncture, and ECG's amongst others, the Home office paid for all of them, unless I got them free, and also attended seminars like the prevention of violence group at Oxford University. The Home office does expect you to be able to work independently as well as a team member.

Re: courses

I have done the key training and security awareness courses on my induction.
Cannot find any courses in my area that do suturing or intubation courses.
I have found a good one for Smoking cessation and a immunisation update, so going to ask today if i can do these at the local PCT.
Keeping in touch with the PCT and they are going to try and find me the courses i need to do for my related role.
Thanks for the help.

Sort of guessed that was the jist...just remember...its only cos they dont know/cant be bothered/feel threatened and dont want to embrace a new pair of eyes and grow in thier own learning...if they wanted to do so they would find a way just like you have....and who is the most sensible in recognising that this is a job with a lot to offer and new learning opportunities to make the most of...go fish go !! emoticon
