Not updates, assessments. Yes there are lots of reasons for the rise in HAIs, but the poor handwashing practices of some healthcare staff is one of them.

Personally, I would discipline nurses who didn't get assessed and/or failed their assessments by hitting them in the pay packet. It seems to me that there is a dearth of personal responsibility being taken.

would you believe we get badges to wear for undertaking handwashing assessment....but not for CPR undates...

I think it's probably because mortality and morbidity rates associated with HAI's are disproportionate, if the same were true for cardiac arrest then that would be the flavour of the month
