Re: Welcome and introductions

Hi I'm Barry.
I started nursing after being a trainee manager at the coop , and woolies, all over the north west. A fully qualified Pork slaughterman, great for A & P, heavy goods driver, Salt miner, and metal can manufacture with semi skilled printer as a sideline.

I've been nursing for 25 years, firstly in Psychiatry then General where I had experience with acute elderly care, and Acute Surgery. I spent some time as a Tutor in a very large teaching hospital, before what looks like the original episode of my present illness happened, that along with the changes that were evident in nurse education lead me to quit teaching, just prior to P2K being introduced, and I spent some time managing a Nursing home before moving to the prison service where I have worked at the male prison at the forefront of replacing Hospital officers with nurses. Unfortunately I have been unable to work since may 2004 due to my condition, and expect to be retired on 02/01/06.

Technically a nurse, still registered, but defected to midwifery 10 years ago. Previously worked on Diabetic unit and then Sexual health - GUM.
Now work as a community midwife in an inner city area.Really like what I do.
Live in the West Midlands with the darling husband, two teenagers and one daughter.
Love music, especially live. Spend too much time online, but it keeps me out of mischief elsewhere.

Re: Welcome and introductions

Hello,
I'm a student, just started semester 6 and I've ended up here.
I was supposed to be looking into the Human Rights Act.
Don't remember when I got sidetracked.

Well, I've been a Royal Engineer, degree student, shelf stacker, backpacker, bookseller, support worker - and that's only this year.

Enjoyed being a student, can't wait to be qualified.

My £3.30 an hour is not allowing me to buy enough books, restaurant food or guitar strings.
