My Little Friend by Donna Tartt - very evocative, but not a page-turner, I'm savouring it.
Read 44, Scotland Street last month and enjoyed it but not enough to read any other Alexander McCall-Smith....
For page-turning escapist fantasy, I've discovered Nora Robert's books and the 'romantic' scenes ensure that my DH gets lucky when he's not expecting it.
Not recommended for reading the library then?

Re: What are you reading at the moment?
Well, finished Mo Mowlam's "Momentum" and very sad to read of her proposed personal and professonal projects at the end, given that she didn't live to realise them. Excellent description of political life, her experience of having a brain tumour, the Northern Ireland peace process and confirmation that Peter Mandelson is just a self-centred ***** as we all thought. She remains fairly loyal to Blair, but does admit he became a megalomaniac.
About to start Agota Kristof's "C'est Egal" ("It's Equal" would be the English translation, but don't know if it's ever been published as that - you know how they always change the titles). I'd never heard of this Hungarian writer before I came to France, but her "Book of Lies" trilogy ("The Big Notebook" "The Proof" and "The Third Lie") rank amongst the simplest yet cleverest books I've ever read.
