What terminology is offensive for people from other countries?

Please let me know and also your reasons why? I know I am lighting the touchpaper here but thought we may as well debate this openly and then we can ensure as mods that we moderate terms others consider offensive properly.

If there are any other terms you find offensive let me know and we can also debate those.

Well fancy missing out Kraut, Diego, sprout, eytie, bog hopper, dyke jumper, and where the **** is luxembourg anyway from your list, I note you also forgot to put french surrender monkies in your list.

What about Paki, Chinky, Russkie, Abo, Wop, Polack, Jock, Paddy, Mick, Spick, Yid, Kike, Yank, Septic?

Any term that is spat out in a context of loathing is potentially offensive.

Absolutely Simpson but I am trying to get across the fact that people dislike terms which abuse another nation and have been used as derogatory for years.

Why Uber, would anyone call someone a luxembourg? Where has the term French Surrender monkies been used and on which thread?

Ask Mad Jock or in your charmless PC world should I call him mentally ill Scot. I notice that despite your claim to me that you had placed a vote and that a considerable amount of people had stated that the term frog was offensive. In fact you hadn't had any votes at that time, and at present only you and I have voted, so that was just a europhile brownism wasn't it.

Congratulations on just missing the wooden spoon Jock, what a good game it was. I know the eyties won but a draw would have reflected the effort of both sides to produce such an entertaining game.

You are 100% correct, and frog has been used in such a way on this forum.

I also think it is also about respect and when people sound disrespectful of difference and as though they dont care about the feelings of anyone from that country/race/gender they also sound offensive.

that of course can be taken to far and humour is a great example where people get upset about unintentional slights but often the remark hides deeper thought processes which are just as worrying.

It just dawned on me but I was a £10 Pom, a name I am quite happy to be called even though it was derogatory at the time.
