I think Simpson has given a perfectly reasonable explanation of when such terms are ok and when not it is spitting them out with loathing that does it Uber. Saying it within a derogatory context is not the same as being jokey nor is it the same as someone who is from that country using the term themselves.

I am British and European because I come from the continent of Europe and was born in England. Both of those things are facts Uber and incontestable just as you are both.

If you were born in England, which is situated on an island, called Great Britain, you were not born on the continent of europe. There are so many diverse cultures and creeds and ethnicities on that continent there is clearly no such thing as a european.
