Hiya Dehlilah, the "trained with florence" is a new forum title for prolific posters.

Simpson...re those slagging others off have you noted that those who have done the job peviously...whether upwards or downwards...dont slag others off but are more able to appreciate the pressures others are subjected to

No, I haven't noticed that. In fact, quite the opposite. Some nurses, once they get to a certain level, seem to forget all about the pressures they once worked under.

Which folk are you thinking of here?

quote:

and this aids mutual respect and a better morale in spite of the bad bits..

I think there is very little mutual respect between nurses, to be honest.

quote:

as for students treated like s***...tat is more to do with individual personalities than anything els...

Couldn't disagree more. There seem to be some nurses who have made it their bounden duty to make the lives of students as difficult as possible. I think you're indulging in victim-blaming here.

quote:

there are good and bad students like staff...

Of course, but that doesn't excuse the bullying of students that I have seen go on.

quote:

good l;ecturers understand the void between theory and practice and can work amicably between if they want to...

I don't think there should be such a void between theory and practice, if theory is based on solid evidence.

quote:

oh and by the way simpson how would you get people to take you seriously... emoticon

Why have you personalised this?

I'm not sure why this was moved to the sluice. I don't think that it was personalised other than to comment on Simpsons comments, most of which are correct, although I find that the theory practice void, which was always large, has increased with every tinkering with the educational process

I still think that bullying needsn to be outlawed and that personality types do cause specific problems...often those doing the bullying do not percieve it as such and from personal experience the bully once confronted actually burst into tears horrified that her personality clash with a student was percieved within the team as bullying...it is a case of understanding a need to remain professional and helpful to those with les experiece in the particular area being adressed whilst being aware that the teacher can also be alearner as roles are reversed within the learning process and taking personal experience from elsewhere when appropriate into account...all part of mutual respect as well as understanding aprehension of others as they enter a new area.....why is it so haard for some of us...
