NFL Draft
I see that a couple mock drafts now have the Niners taking Jor Flacco with their 1st round pick, interesting
I would like them to hopefully grab Goster Cherilus with the 29th pick and if not him, get Groves or Mayo... no WR's
we can always get a guy like Early Doucet or Lavelle Hawkins in the later rounds

I hope Brohm or Flacco falls to the Dolphins with their 32 pick.

Re: NFL Draft
a project guard with our second round pick?
I thought the Niners would take a playmaker there.... Jackson, Hardy, and Kelly were all available
Balmer scares me too because he only had one good season and didnt play in an elite conference
I hope the Niners dont think Isaac Bruce is going to be their #1 go to WR

NFL Draft
ACC is a fairly decent conference for sports.
That said, definitely was an iffy pick for the 9ers...should have gone with a WR or traded down.

Re: NFL Draft
what an awful draft
a facking center in the 4th round who might not even make the team?
Lavelle Hawkins is just sitting there in the Niners lap and they draft a guy who would probably be around when they pick again in the 6th round
I hope Balmer is the real deal or else this draft gets an F IMO

NFL Draft
While I agree they should have tried to trade down to pick Wallace, it's a solid pick, and I don't know where you got the idea he may not make the team, Kiper had him ranked as the #1 center in the draft...he'll easily make it, Heitmann was a disaster last year.
I don't like the WR pick at all.

NFL Draft
I put this in another thread...but this was my very quick view of this draft.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I liked the draft, with the exception of the VT WR...there were better WR's to be had, don't understand what they see in him...hope I'm wrong.
I think Balmer just flat out fell to us, they didn't think he'd be there, and when he was, it was a no brainer. A freak who needs some higher level coaching. I think Chilo Rachal was the best pick of the draft, a real mean & big OG who can also play tackle...and after losing Smiley, possibly Allen, and a newly injured Baas, this was a good pick. Smith from OU was the type of pick I expected for the 4th, a DB who can play CB or FS...expect him to play FS for us. Wallace was a tad high of a pick, but seeing as we lost our 5th I think the 49ers just pulled the trigger here...trading back a tad would have been the best move.
It's not a very sexy draft, but it is a very needs based draft.
