105 years ago today, a teen-aged boy named jdb watched from the grass as the New York Highlanders took on the Washington Senators in the first home game in Highlanders history.
The Highlanders won 6-2 and the crusty old **** has been rambling on about New York ever since.

Any Giant fan worth his salt also knows that of the 4 - 2 were of Burdette, 1 of Seth Morehead and the last off Don McMahon.
If you are really good you would also know that the Braves catcher was not the usual Joe Torre that day but rather Charlie Lau.

according to Wes Westrum by the way Lau positioned himself behind the plate - the Giants knew what type of pitch was being thrown all day. In addition to Mays, 4 more Giant roundtrippers were hit in that game.

Curt Schilling told A-Rod he was going to throw him nothing but fastballs in an All Star game a few years ago. Schilling was true to his word, and A-Rod didn't make contact with one pitch.
This doesn't make the 4 dingers any less special for me.
