Get very nervous if the first batter gets plunked.

Mention the Black Sox to my elderly pop, and he will rouse from a deep slumber and bellow "BUCK WEAVER WAS INNOCENT".

He claims to be hanging on till there's a democrat in the white house and weaver is reinstated.

He may live forever

Fact is, tossing games was a way of things in the 19-teens and before.

Ty Cobb was a wizard at it. And Sam Crawford used to foul off pitches on purpose when Ty was on the paths and stealing, just to pizz him up.

I love baseball.

Cobb and Speaker were allegedly involved in a 1919 game "fixed" game. There was never enough evidence to prove it but coming after the banishment of the Sox 8, BB would have been in deeper doo doo. Then along came the Babe.

After 714, the indelible numbers of my yoot were Cobb's .367 and 4191. Then some geek came along said "not so fast" that they were really .366 and 4190. Still too hard to accept.
Cobb was of course was continually iinvolved in controversy. One of my favorites was the attempted conspiracy in 1910 to deprive him of the batting title and give it to Lajoie. bunt, bunt, bunt, etc.
