Police say Florida boy, 7, stole SUV and left path of damage
Apr 26, 1:44 PM (ET)
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (AP) - Police say a 7-year-old Florida boy faces grand theft auto charges after taking his grandmother's sport utility vehicle for a joyride. The eight minute trek left a swath of damage in his Palm Beach Gardens neighborhood Friday. The boy smashed mailboxes, hit parked cars and signposts. He was unhurt.
Police say he literally drove until a wheel fell off. The right front wheel, to be exact, which broke off after the boy hit a sign.
Police spokeswoman Ellen Lovejoy says the boy is unlikely to be prosecuted. They arrested him so he can get some help, noting the excursion was "unusual behavior for a 7-year-old."

Re: The random krap and bizarre pics thread
Talk about an "oppressive marriage" and a husband "keeping his wife down"..
4 days pinned under a dead body? Hellish.
That's one tough old lady, even if she doesn't have any muscle power.

Newspaper carrier finds woman pinned by husband's dead body
Apr 29, 11:35 PM (ET)
By JIM SUHR
ST. LOUIS (AP) - Newspaper carrier Bruce Pitts knew the elderly couple only by the prayers the wife made for him while he was working at night and in bad weather, but he felt something was wrong when the papers piled up outside their home.
"It was never like them to leave a newspaper in their tube," Pitt said Tuesday. "That wonderful, small voice inside me said, 'This isn't right.'"
After his route early Sunday, Pitts went home, napped briefly and, with his wife, returned to Blanche and Fred Roberts' home, just outside Marion, Ill.
They repeatedly rang the doorbells but got no answer. Pitts then eased open an unlocked side door and saw the couple about two feet inside, 84-year-old Blanche Roberts helpless looking right back at Pitts.
Her right leg was pinned beneath the body of her 77-year-old husband Fred, who apparently had died last Wednesday evening of a heart attack after mowing the lawn.
"The good Lord was with her. She was not scared, wasn't panicking," Pitts said during a telephone interview. "She was conscious, talking. Just peaceful. It was remarkable."
Her only request was for water. She knew her name and her relatives, but described her husband as "sleeping," said Pitts, who delivers the Southern Illinoisan, published in nearby Carbondale, Ill.
Pitts described Blanche Roberts as frail and petite. Fred Roberts was a "good-sized man," according to Williamson County, Ill., coroner Mike Burke, though he declined to be specific.
The coronoer said Fred Roberts likely died of a heart attack, based on accounts from the Roberts' visitors that day.
"They said he was really beet-red in the face, that he didn't look good," Burke said.
Blanche Roberts was taken to a hospital in nearby Herrin. The hospital on Tuesday wouldn't confirm whether she still was being treated there; Pitts said the couple's relatives told his wife Monday that she was doing fine.
Pitts has delivered on that route for three years but said he never met the Robertses before Sunday. But he thinks fondly of Blanche Roberts, who often tipped him in letters and was known to Pitts and his wife as "The Prayer Lady."
In her missives, "Blanche would say, 'I've been praying for you at night whenever the weather's bad, realizing you're out in it delivering our papers,'" Pitts said. "We'd always say a little prayer back."

Slow news day.
Japanese official demoted for 780,000 hits on porn sites
May 2, 8:06 AM (ET)
TOKYO (AP) - A Japanese civil servant was demoted for logging more than 780,000 hits on pornographic Web sites on his office computer over nine months, an official said Friday.
The man, a Kinokawa city government employee in western Japan, visited porn sites from June 2007 to February 2008, city official Tomiko Waki said. The man's name was withheld.
Despite his frequent porn viewing, none of his colleagues noticed his activities, which he apparently conducted throughout the workday.
"Each desk is set apart from each other," Waki said, adding that the man logged 170,000 hits on porn sites in July alone.
The man's supervisors discovered his extensive porn site visits after his computer became infected with a virus, prompting officials to examine his Web browser's history.
Along with the demotion, he received a 20,000 yen ($190) monthly pay cut, Waki said.

awesome. i guess i might have that many hits when i am working from home...but at work? it's amazing he wasn't fired. here in the usa, he would be **** canned in 2.5 seconds.

Re: The random krap and bizarre pics thread
The man was a machine.
He had to be amped on something.
Safely assuming that he was looking at pics of underage Asian cheerleaders at least half the time-- he brings a whole new meaning to the term "Ped's".
His stats are Kobayashi-like:
let's go with 22 business days in July 2007,(M-F) and call it a ten hour day, with no lunch break.
7,720 porn clicks a day, would be 12.9 a minute-- That roughly equates to one new porn pic every 4.5 seconds, for 600 minutes straight --each and every week day for a month straight.
And that doesn't count his weekend warrior stats, which one would have to assume are off the charts.
