Re: The random krap and bizarre pics thread
(The Following text and pics were taken from an email.)
These photos were taken recently by Tom Carver, who lives on Lakelse Lake just outside of Terrace, B.C..
He owns The Water Lily Bay Resort where there are Swans that he often feeds.
Eagles are very common in this area .
Swan and Eagle pictures.
The swan .
What a beautiful bird, so graceful and majestic.
Here comes the Eagle!!!
You can see the feathers flying here.
This one is so amazing to see the eagle wing span beside the swan. Poor thing must be scared to death
The eagle is loosing his grip on the swan here.
Has just lost his grip on the swan.
The swan starts falling straight down.
The swan falls into the water, swims away and the eagle just looks on. I am amazed, and have never seen an eagle tackle something so big in mid air before.

The random krap and bizarre pics thread
True vineyard story:
A guy hires a falconer to bring in a trained hawk to scare away small birds that like to eat grapes. So the falconer brings his hawk out, perched on the thick, leather glove, unhoods it and gives him the heave-ho. The hawk circles, slowly climing the thermals looking for prey to scare off and out of nowhere comes a Bald Eagle, talons out just like in the photos above, and snags this expensive, trained hawk and flies off with it. Done early, check please, exit stage left. I really wish I had been there for that.

And the last, and DEFINITELY LEAST interesting "nature story" comes from my very own house today.
What happens if your cat doesn't chew before it swallows it's food, and then it finds one of your iPods?

Woman files claim, saying dog feces ruined family outing
May 8, 7:44 PM (ET)
NORWALK, Conn. (AP) - A New York woman has filed a $100 claim against Norwalk saying a family outing to the Maritime Aquarium was ruined by dog feces. The woman claims her child's shoes, along with the entire outing, were ruined when her 1-year-old stepped in dog feces outside the Maritime Garage.
City attorney M. Jeffry Spahr said the official response is that her claim is denied and in his words, "poop happens."
Kelly DeBrocky, of Mahopac, N.Y., wants the city to reimburse her for $54 she spent replacing her toddler's ruined shoes and the expenses for parking and aquarium admission on April 5.

Texas teens tell police they converted skull into bong
May 9, 3:33 AM (ET)
HOUSTON (AP) - Three teenagers were arrested after two of them told police they dug up a secluded grave north of Houston, removed the skull from the coffin and converted it into a marijuana bong.
Police found a grave in the city of Humble that had been disturbed, but were still investigating the rest of the teens' story, Houston police Sgt. John Chomiak said.
Kevin Wade Jones, 17, and Matthew Richard Gonzalez, 17, both of Kingwood, were arrested Wednesday night and were being held on misdemeanor charges of abuse of a corpse, Chomiak said. The juvenile was referred to the Harris County juvenile justice system.
Police were interviewing Jones about the use of a stolen debit card when he told them about the grave theft, which purportedly occurred around March 15, according to court documents. Asked why Jones would volunteer such a story, Chomiak said, "We can only speculate and guess to what goes on in the criminal mind."
Gonzalez confirmed the story to investigators in a follow-up interview. Police were led to a heavily wooded site in Humble where they found a knocked-over headstone and water-filled hole more than 4 feet deep. At the time, the muddy water did not allow police to see if the coffin had been disturbed.
"They dug into this gravesite and that was enough to warrant the abuse of corpse charge," Chomiak said. "There has to be further investigation into the actual gravesite."
Police believe the grave is that of an 11-year-old boy who died in 1921. Preliminary reports indicate it was part of a 19th-century veterans cemetery, Chomiak said. While residents in the area knew of the cemetery's existence, it did not appear to be maintained.
