Ill. police take aggressive rooster into custody

BENTON, Ill. (AP) - A rooster played chicken in the wrong town. That's the word from the downstate community of Benton, where police took a rooster into custody after it allegedly confronted a woman and her child. Police Chief Mike O'Neill said the rooster has been bothering people lately, trying to keep them from getting where they want to go.
O'Neill said officers had enough on Monday and took the rooster into custody after what he described as a brief scuffle.
Nobody was injured and the rooster was thrown in an enclosed area near the police department. There, it lived on chicken feed and water until police located the owner.
Chickens aren't allowed to live in Benton and the rooster was turned over to the owner only after he promised to find it a new home in the country.

Note: Attorney for the rooster declined to comment regarding if there will be any police brutality charges filed, in light of the "scuffle".
The mother of the child did mention that her son now likes eating Chicken McNuggets more than ever, and that he refuses to wear yellow or red any longer and has shaved off his mohawk.

Jogger runs mile with rabid fox locked on her arm

PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities in Arizona say a jogger attacked by a rabid fox ran a mile with the animal's jaws clamped on her arm and then drove herself to a hospital. The Yavapai County sheriff's office said the woman told deputies she was on a trail near Prescott on Monday when the fox attacked and bit her foot.
She said she grabbed the fox by the neck when it went for her leg but it bit her arm.
The woman wanted the animal tested for rabies so she ran a mile to her car with the fox still biting her arm, then pried it off and tossed it in her trunk and drove to the Prescott hospital.
The sheriff's office says the fox later bit an animal control officer. He and the woman are both receiving rabies vaccinations.

PS- No biggee and yes, I've probably made the same faux pas in this thread.
Just asking that you stick to your usual contributions to this thread, as those were almost all pretty good.
(Considering the nature of this thread-- a slugging average of even .250 is acceptable, anything .400 or higher is commendable, and you are well above that so far-- though you did just "swing-and-a miss"!)
I figure I am slugging around .200 in here (at best)-- but, hey I do get on base a lot.
Kind of nice to have one goofy thread where we can just occasionally marvel at the world's less significant lunacies, without there being any real message or biased opinions thrown around or attached.
I assume you agree since you are one of the 15,000 lookers <-- ( so far) and also an occasional contributor.

SARGENT, Ga. (AP) - Would-be cleaners take note: A blowtorch is not a good substitute for a broom. Coweta County authorities said Galen Winchell set fire to his west Georgia home Wednesday as he cleaned cobwebs from exterior eaves with a blowtorch. Winchell noticed the blaze when he saw smoke pouring from the attic.
Coweta Fire Investigator James Gantt says the fire was contained to one part of the house, but the entire home had smoke and water damage.
No one was hurt. No phone number was listed for Winchell.
