Willie, Hank, Gibson and the Town Hall meeting on "Costas Now"
If you missed the original broadcast on Wednesday Night, it's airing again today on HBO at 3:30 PM PST.
(Channel 501 for Direct TV users)
The show is centered on the current state of baseball, and has some great interviews and film clips from the past.
I dislike Costas, but If you are a lifelong baseball fan, (regardless of your age), this is a MUST SEE.
Short preview here:

Note- Willie proudly wore his Giants cap the entire time and he said some pretty funny stuff when Costas wasn't busy interrupting him.
One of my favorite Willie quotes from the show:
(paraphrased):
"It wasn't about home runs, I could pretty much hit one any time. It was about winning. Seeing 24 happy faces in the dugout."
The baseball Gods love you Willie, and so do we.
"Throughout history, there have only been two geniuses, "Willie Shakespeare and Willie Mays." -- Tallulah Bankead

Bob Costas is the Mitch Albom of the airwaves. Short, pompous and overrated.
Picture this:
He is hosting a town hall meeting. Almost EVERYONE who was ever anyone is there-- HOF'ers, owners, you name it.
Halo's owner is on stage with Winfield and Andy Van Slyke, and is talking about intercity baseball and the attempt to revive the black youth's interest in the game. Fairly important topic I'd say.
And what does Costa, the little maggot, wannabe do?
He actually interrupted the Halo's owner and Winfield and tried to mention when he played Little league, and without ANY relevance to the subject at hand. None whatsoever. He just wanted to mention his " presence in the game".
It was SO sad.
Beyond pathetic. So much so, that even Costas decided to drop the attempted and unbelievably weak, self aggrandizing interruption.

That's ONE of the bad things about Costas...
The idiot doesn't know when to shut up! If you get greats like those guys in....Just throw out a question and let them fill the air time.
Exactly. Willie kept getting cut off and interrupted.
It was pissing me off.
And yet it was very cool, when Costas was sukkking Hank's schlong-- that Willie pointed out that he missed most of the '52 and all of the '53 season (due to Korea)
And would have beaten Hank to 715 had he not.
Even Costas agreed and Hank didn't say **** !
(wasn't even a need to mention Fulton county stadium vs the Stick)
And like I said--Willie looked great up there in his Giants cap when no one else was wearing one at all.
Way to remind us and everyone else- of the former glory that was the Giants, Willie !

When I used to travel to Arizona for ST with my dad, Willie was ALWAYS there wearing his Giants cap and talking with fans.
It saddens me to see Robbie with the Tribe organization and Thrill and Matty planting roots with the DBacks.
The young Giants fans of today will not get the family feel that I had seeing Say Hey connecting with the fans.
