Five more days until Dave Roberts returns!

Can we get a counter at the top of the page for this momentous event?

Linkedy, link, link.

Can't wait to see how Bochy will handle this. Should be nearly as telling about the team's commitment to the future as the Giants' stance at the deadline.

I actually don't think it will be much of a problem. Velez will just go back to AAA where he belongs and Roberts will be primarily used off the bench.

You're probably right. I'm more interested to see who get PT if Winn is traded.

Though I also see an outside chance of the team saying that they have to showcase Roberts to possible trade partners (what playoff team doesn't want a stolen base specialist? Other than all of them, that is).

If Roberts is played often initially to show him off, then I would not have a problem with that. However, after the deadline and he is still starting, then we would have a problem. But if he isn't traded (which he likely won't be), I doubt that Bochy would give Fred a spot on the bench. I believe that Sabean has learned to forget the "win now" approach. He has made two very good drafts during the past two and there has not been a single rumor about the Giants and an older player. I also think that the amount of money he has put into signing prospects says something.

Hopefully we will find somebody to take Roberts and Winn. If we have to pay some or most of the salary, I would be fine with it. It would let us to continue to give Fred all the LF at-bats and let Nate take over RF. But more than likely neither will be traded.

i am actually more afraid of bouchy being a players manager then Sabean's win now attitude.

Sabean can point to his great draft in 07 and 08 as proof that he knows how to rebuilt a team. He can show the new boss he should keep his jobs.

Bouchy as manager has only one way to convince the new onwer to let keep his job and that is to win games. developing players won't earn him any points withthe new. I am definely afraid bouchy wants to play all his vets as much as possible to win a few extra games to save his job.

I heard that Sabean saud that he is going to tell Bochy what direction the team is going in and that they are not contenders. At least that is what a caller said Sabes said on his show.

I met with Napper Tandy
And I shook him by the hand
He said 'Hold me up for Chrissake for I can hardly stand'

Take it to the bank; Roberts will start and Lewis will sit. We'll hear that Lewis is getting tired,Roberts needs showcased, we're in contention, blah, blah, blah.
