Re: Trade for Dontrelle Willis?

NO!

With that said, here is a list of ten guys I could see the Giants trading for:

Jose Lopez 2b/1b
Ryan Doumit C/1b/rf
Adam LaRoche 1b
Freddy Sanchez 2b/3b
Mark Teahen 3b/lf/rf/2b
Dan Uggla 2b/3b/1b
JJ Hardy ss/3b
Jorge Cantu 1b/2b/3b
Jeremy Hermida rf
Ryan Garko 1b

I especially like the idea of taking on some salary from Pittsburgh. I have to believe that they will make Doumit available once he comes off the DL. I think the Giants could be interested in Sanchez or LaRoche too. For instance, I'd offer them Molina (who would net them two additional picks in next years draft) and Ishikawa for Doumit and LaRoche or for Doumit and Sanchez. It basically would be a salary dump for Pittsburgh but this deal would give the Giants two needed bats for the lineup and a couple of guys that they would have control over the next few years. It just wouldn't be a three month rental for the Giants.

But trade for Dontrelle? No F'n way.

Just sayin'

Sure, if they throw in Miguel Cabrera.

Okay, okay. Granderson.

I put out a Granderson/Willis for Lewis/Alderson deal and basically got crapped on.

Crapped on because the Tigers would never do it (I doubt they would, I was joking), or because Giants fans didn't like it (They're wrong).

Can we add Solomon Torres and William Van Launching Pad to that esteemed list?

Wasn't that before Righetti though?

Rags was the pitching coach for Estes's final two seasons in SF. Not Estes's best seasons, but near the top, and better than he ever did afterwords.

Doumit is definitely available (as are Freddy Sanchez and Adam LaRoche). But I can't see the Pirate having any interest in Molina. For one, they've gotten decent play from their catchers (Jaramillo and Diaz) since Doumit went on the DL. Secondly, catcher is the one position the Pirates are relatively deep. Lastly, based on how the Pirates drafted earlier this month, I can't see them wanting extra draft picks. It's just more money they would have to spend.

So if the Pirates are going to ask for anything, it's going to be pitchers. Tanner, Sosa, etc.

I'd take Willis....but it would have to be REAL CHEAP. He is a good kid. Maybe a change in scenery would be good.

I can see why they wouldn't want the extra picks. Then again, since the Bucs seem to be in a rebuilding phase (once again), that they could use the extra picks. Just a thought on my part. Get Molina now, off him arbitration knowing that they have two young catchers that they like and a top catching prospect in the minors, then collect two draft picks next year.

However, if the Bucs want to dump payroll, I think all three players could help the Giants. Sure, none of them are great but I think they could all help the Giants lineup. I especially like the idea of Doumit and Sanchez because they have some flexibility in positions that they can play.

Everyone wants to talk about trading for Uggla, Holiday or Rollins but I just don't see any of those deals happening given Sabean constantly saying that he isn't going to give up his top prospects.

Just sayin'
